Montreal Report

November 14th, 2009

We had a great “Deliver Us From Evil” seminar at Destiny Christian Church in Montreal last weekend. We feel it was one of the best seminars we’ve done! The Lord significantly touched quite a number of people, especially during the last ministry time when we dealt with fear. We also heard testimonies from various people whose lives had been changed during our “Reclaiming Your Destiny” seminar last winter.

One testimony was from a mother whose daughter was delivered from a kundalini spirit at that previous seminar. She told us her daughter’s rebellion is gone and peace has returned to their home. Others testified how they had a new perspective on life since attending our meetings, and how things they had struggled with for years are no loner an issue. A great testimony of being set free from painful heel-spurs after repenting from prejudice toward Germans can be found here.

We also interviewed the pastors of Destiny Christian Church before we left. Having done both of our current seminars there, we wanted to hear their thoughts about how their congregation was benefited by our ministry. Their comments were very encouraging to us, and we believe they will bless you as well. You can watch their comments here.

We have a busy week ahead of us as we catch up after being away, and then prepare to head out again for another week. This time we are going to have others minister to us! We are looking forward to being refreshed at Kerith Creek (http://www.kerithcreek.com), which is an arm of Focus on the Family. They take four leadership couples at a time and minister healing, refreshing, renewal, and refocusing. It has been a long time since we’ve had anything like this, so we are excited!

We also want to encourage you to check our podcasts and mp3 messages on the website, as well as the booklets we published recently. The booklet titles are: “Truth in the Inward Parts“, “Go Yonder and Worship”, and “Has God Offended you?” Other titles will be published later.

Blessings,

Eli and Marti

Deliver Us From Evil seminar report

October 31st, 2009

“He delivered me from my strong enemy, from those who hated me; for they were too strong for me. They confronted me in the day of my calamity, but the LORD was my support. He also brought me out into a broad place; He delivered me because He delighted in me” (2 Sam. 22:18-20).

The Lord delights to free His people from the bondages of the enemy. Jesus put it this way: “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have [it] more abundantly” (John 10:10).

Last weekend we presented our “Deliver Us From Evil” seminar here in Abbotsford. Once again we saw the Lord release people from bondages that had held them captive for years. Our team worked well together and all who attended expressed how much they were blessed. Among the reports of life-changing encounters over the weekend, here is one testimony:

“What a difference your seminar has made! I feel so much lighter and I know that I have been MADE free! I have been able to stand against the schemes of the enemy with more authority and maintain the ground that has been taken. There has been a powerful breakthrough from the bondage of fear. I know I have been freed from an accusing spirit because something has broken that was over my mind. I feel there has been a release from bitterness I was previously unable to shake off. I have more insight on how to pray for others - husband and family members because of all the teachings I received. What a valuable time it was!! Thank you so much!!” ~ BS

We will be in Montreal PQ November 5-7 at Destiny Christian Church to present the seminar again. We look forward to what the Lord will do there. Because the church is bi-lingual, those meetings will be simultaneously translated into French.

We are excited to offer some new resources for you. First, we now have podcasts set up on our website that you can download to your iPod or computer. Click the link on our home page to go to iTunes where you can select which messages you wish to hear. You can also download the mp3 files or listen to the messages on the site.

In addition to the podcasts, we have published three booklets that will inspire, challenge, and bless you. The titles are: “Truth in the Inward Parts”, “Go Yonder and Worship”, and “Has God Offended you?” We will be releasing more booklets in the coming months, so watch for announcements here and on the website. For booklet content and purchase information, check our store.

Thank you for your continued love and interest in the ministry entrusted to us. We need to make several decisions by year’s end regarding some specific directions for our ministry. We welcome your prayers and any confirmations you might receive.

Blessings,

Eli and Marti Miller

Reclaiming Your Destiny seminar report

October 13th, 2009

We just returned from doing our “Reclaiming Your Destiny” seminar in New Bedford, Massachusetts. The seminar went very well with some of the people saying it was the best ever! Several gave testimony that they experienced freedom in areas where they have never had freedom before. Issues of unforgiveness, fear, anxiety and other areas were addressed.

During one of the prayers, I felt to ask if there were any Vietnam veterans present. One gentleman raised his hand. I then ministered to him to break a specific curse that is over most Vietnam veterans: While in that war they were cursed with loneliness and isolation for the rest of their lives. When I questioned the gentleman, he confirmed that he has struggled with a sense of isolation for years since the war. We broke the curse and by the time the seminar was finished, he told me he felt more connection and peace than he has experienced in years. We look forward to hearing from him at a later date to follow up with his freedom.

We really enjoyed our time with the Pastors of the church, Joe and Linda Britto, as well as other members of the church leadership. They are a great team with a passion to bring the church into the fullness of Christ. We also had a meeting with some of the pastors of the city in which we shared some principles on the difference between leading the church as shepherds and leading as managers. It stimulated some good discussion!

We are now looking forward to our next two seminars, one here in Abbotsford BC, October 22-24 and the other in Montreal Quebec, November 5-7. Both of these seminars are our “Deliver Us from Evil” series, which are focused on setting people free from demonic influence. In the past, these have been very effective in bringing people to an unprecedented freedom and liberty in the Spirit. We encourage our friends in both of these areas to make plans to join us for these meetings. Registration and more information may be obtained for the Montreal seminar on the home page of the website. To register for the Abbotsford seminar call our office – 604-864-2660.

We invite you to listen to our newest down-loadable message. It is a message I gave recently in a conference held during the Feast of Trumpets. The message is a challenge to ascend and reclaim the spiritual mountains of our inheritance. Part way through the message the spirit of prophecy came on me and I gave a prophetic word that challenges all of us to come up higher.

Again, Marti and I thank you for keeping us in your prayers. As you partner with us, we are confident that the Lord will bless you in your divinely inspired endeavors as well.

Until next time.

Abraham’s Fourth Altar

September 22nd, 2009

We had a wonderful week-long visit with our youngest daughter, Jolena. We only get to see her once a year when she comes back to North America to earn finances to return to India where she has been working as a volunteer midwife. She plans to return there around the middle of November.

The Voice of Thunder conference went well last weekend, considering there had been little time to advertise it. The conference was during the time of the Jewish Feast of Trumpets, so there were a number of references to that significance. I spoke on the need to hear the Lord’s voice and retake the spiritual mountains the enemy has stolen from the church.

We continue to stay before the Lord for direction in this season of our lives and ministry. We are at peace and trusting Him to set the course before us. We appreciate your prayers for us as we wait on Him.

In previous posts, we looked briefly at the first three altars in Abraham’s life. This time we will consider the fourth and last altar, which is found in Genesis 22. This chapter is rich in symbolic truth on several levels of application, but time and space will only allow me to briefly focus on the circumstances related to this altar.

The chapter opens with the greatest challenge of Abraham’s life and faith: God called him to offer Isaac as a burnt (worship) offering to Himself!

“Then He said, ‘Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go…and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.’” (Gen.22:2)

Consider this request from the Lord: Abraham had waited 25 years for Isaac to be born; now he was asked to offer him on an altar! The next verse tells us that “Abraham rose up early in the morning” and began the journey to the place God would reveal to him. This shows that Abraham did not wait around for several days to see whether God would change His mind. Although hearing a word to offer up his son must have caused myriads of thoughts to race through his mind, his obedience was immediate and complete. As difficult as it must have been, he recognized his Master’s voice and responded immediately.

Scripture only records a few sentences of the many thoughts that must have tumbled through both Abraham and Isaac’s mind during their three days of travel to the mountain. Finally, “they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built an altar there… and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar…” (Gen.22:9)

There is so much that could be said here, but suffice it to say that Abraham had come to place of trust and faith that few have known. He had a quiet inner peace and an assurance that burned in his bosom in spite of the fact that he was about to lose everything dear to him. He would willingly obey the word of his God, while quietly believing for the impossible - resurrection life.

Now that everything was prepared to offer up Isaac, it seemed as though all heaven stood still and held its breath. This was the ultimate test of this aged man’s faith. Would he actually go through with it and not withhold his only son? It was settled in a moment as “Abraham stretched out his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.” (vs.10)

At that precise moment, “the Angel of the Lord called to him out of heaven and said…’Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.’” (vs.11-12)

Wait a minute! “Now I KNOW that you fear God”? Abraham had walked with God for over 50 years by this time. His faith had been tested when he left his homeland and began the long journey to this mountaintop. It had been tested when he went into Egypt during the famine, and when there was strife between his herdsmen and Lot’s herdsmen over the best part of the land. Later he had dismissed his own efforts to fulfill the word that he should have a son (Ishmael), and only now the Lord said that He knows Abraham fears Him!

At which of Abraham’s altars are you? Has the Lord challenged you to leave what has been familiar behind? Has the revelation of what He has planned for your life birthed thanksgiving and awe? Have you learned to trust the Lord for your provisions when others seem to get the best of what is available? Is He calling you to lay the promises dearest to you on an altar?

Notice that the Lord did not tell Abraham to kill Isaac - He asked him to offer him up. When we walk with the Lord long enough we will learn that He is able to bring life out of what looks like death to us. Therefore, regardless where you are in your spiritual journey, learn to trust Him in the darkness as well as in the light.

Be blessed,

Eli and Marti

Abraham’s Third Altar

September 9th, 2009

In previous posts we looked at the first two altars in Abraham’s life. In this continuation, we look at the circumstances around his third altar.

Abraham had returned from his excursion into Egypt after leaving the Promised Land when it was smitten with a famine. He had gone “down into Egypt” on his own accord without God’s direction, and while there, he compromised the Lord’s promise regarding the children he would father. He did that by entering Egypt under the pretense that his wife was his sister. (See Genesis 12:10-13:4).

Egypt represents many things in scripture, but in this context it represents looking to our natural abilities and to the world as the means of providing for ourselves. If we “go into Egypt” after coming into the promised land of our redemption, we always “go down” into it! This is because we should look to the Lord for our help rather than relying on the “arm of flesh” for our help.

There is no record that Abraham received any further word from God during his time in Egypt. Neither is there an indication that the famine was over when he returned, or that any of the circumstances in the land had changed! Coming out of Egypt, Abraham returned “to the place of the altar which he had made there at the first. And there Abram called on the name of the Lord.” (Gen.13:4)

Like Abraham, if we “go into Egypt” after God gives us a word, we must return to the place (spiritually) where we left that word and do the first works of repentance for our unbelief. We must reestablish an altar, and there, call on the name of the Lord again. Only then will we be ready to continue on our journey with Him.

Shortly after returning to the Promised Land, Abraham and Lot separated because of strife between the two households. Having learned to trust God for his provision - demonstrated by allowing Lot to chose the region of the land he wanted for his cattle - the Lord again spoke to Abraham. He told him that all the land he could see - northward, southward, eastward, and westward - would be given to him and his descendants! What a revelation! The scope of the word was almost more than Abraham could comprehend. (Gen.13:5-17)

In a moment of time, Abraham saw the whole provision of God. It stretched from where he was, to as far as he could see in every direction: northward with some more testing, southward into blessing, eastward from whence he had come, and westward to the city of God. It was all to be his!

Applying this to us who “follow in the steps of our father Abraham,” what can you see in your land? Can you see health and well-being? Can you see spiritual, emotional, and physical healing? Can you see deliverance from every foul spirit? Can you see freedom from sin? Can you see every form of death being conquered as you walk step by step in faithful obedience to the word of the Lord? Can you see families restored?

What we can see in our promised land is very personal: I can’t have what you see because I must see it for myself. You can’t see what the Lord has shown me: it must become your vision as well. We will not experience what the Lord has for us until we can see that it is ours, then appropriating it by “walking through the land.”

Challenged and humbled to the core of his being, “Abram moved his tent…in Hebron, and built an altar there to the Lord.” (Gen.13:18) This was Abraham’s third altar, built to honor the Lord for His amazing grace, favor, and provision.

Where are you on your journey with the Lord? What has He been able to show you? What do you see? Even now I hear Him call, “Rise up my love, my fair one and come away!” (Song.2:13c)

Abraham’s second altar

August 27th, 2009

It is hard to believe that we are at the end of August with September and Fall activities just around the corner. Where has summer gone this year? Why does it seem like summer is the shortest season?

After being with us for over two years, our youngest son, Luke, has moved to New York City to pursue a career change. We miss having him with us but we know it is time for him to make this transition.

If you missed our “Reclaiming Your Destiny” seminar in July, we have good news for you. We are excited to announce that we have dates for our “Deliver Us From Evil” seminar in October. The seminar will be held in Abbotsford on October 22-25 in the same facility where the previous seminar was held. Registration details will be given later. Begin to make plans to attend now.

In our previous post, I looked at the first of four altars in Abraham’s life. We saw that Abraham had come into the Promised Land and “passed through the land” when the Lord appeared to him and promised the land to his descendants.

Then the Lord stirred up Abraham’s spirit “and he moved from there to the mountain east of Bethel, and he pitched his tent with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east; there he built an altar to the LORD and called on the name of the LORD. So Abram journeyed, going on still toward the South.” (Gen.2:8-9)

To understand the significance of this encampment we need to know the figurative meaning of the directions in scripture, as well as the meaning of the two towns mentioned. Time and space do not allow me to elaborate on these points, but briefly stated, “east” is where the light of day comes from, and points toward the beginning of something; “West” is where the sun sets at the end of a day, and points toward the end of a matter; “South” is associated with warmth, and points to natural blessings from God; “North” is where it’s cold, and speaks of tribulation and testing. Scripture is consistent in its prophetic use of the directions, and even refers to them as “the four corners of the earth.” (Isa.11:12)

The visitation Abraham received from the Lord gave him a “mountaintop” experience. He was now in a place where God could show him much more of the land and His intention toward him.

Now let’s get the significance of Abraham pitching his tent with Ai on the east and Bethel on the west. Ai, meaning “heap of ruins” was east of Abraham and Bethel, meaning, “the house of God” was to the west. Did this just happen this way, or was it by divine design?

With this “mountaintop experience,” Abraham got the revelation that the end of God’s purpose was to build and have a city and habitation for Himself. From that day onward, Abraham “looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.” (Heb.11:10) The city he was looking for is the city we have come to: “the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem… the church of the Firstborn” which in the end of the matter, will come “down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride for her husband.” (Heb.12:22-23; Rev.21:2)

He also saw the “heap of ruins” and the darkness he had been called out of in the beginning of his spiritual journey. Overwhelmed with gratitude and the presence of the Lord, Abraham built another altar, and called on the name of the Lord.

If we are to get serious with God, we need to understand the depths of ruin we’ve been saved from and have a vision of the destiny God has planned for us. When those two extremes are brought into focus in our heart, we too will call on the name of the Lord, asking Him for the strength to walk worthy of the invitation with which we have been called (see Eph.4:1).

Now that Abraham had a vision of God’s purpose, and was calling on His name, he journeyed “going on still toward the south” into the blessings of God. However, little did he know that a famine would soon challenge the promises and revelation he had just received.

Abraham’s altars

August 13th, 2009

We’ve had a bit of down time with our family while our our son and family from Alaska were with us for two weeks. We had not seen their family for three years so it was wonderful to see the growth in the children. Their four little girls are quite the chatterboxes – I wonder where they got that? Now we will get into communication mode again to keep you updated with what is happening with us.

We are still receiving positive feedback from the “Reclaiming Your Destiny” seminar we held last month. The Lord touched some lives significantly during that series and a number of attendees have expressed how much they are looking forward to the follow-up “Deliver Us From Evil” seminar we will be doing in October. Details for that series will be coming later.

With this post we will begin a short series on the four altars in Abraham’s life and how they relate to our own spiritual journey. Scripture tells us the promises made to Abraham are available “to all those who believe…and walk in the steps of faith which our father Abraham had” (Rom.4:12-13). Abraham’s “steps of faith” are connected with the four altars in his life.

The first of the ten times God appeared to Abraham, he was living with his idolatrous family in Mesopotamia, many miles from the land that would later be promised to him (See Acts 7:2; Josh.24:2. It is interesting to note that the Lord is again appearing supernaturally to Muslims and others living in that part of the world as He calls them out of their misguided worship and gives them a revelation of Himself!)

After obeying the call of God and migrating to Canaan – a journey of approximately 1000 miles – the Lord again appeared to Abraham and promised him that the land he was passing through would be given to his descendants. Being heirless at the time, that revelation caused Abraham to build his first altar (Gen.12:4-7).

An altar is a designated place to meet with the Lord. It can be a place of worship, petition, thanksgiving, safety, or sacrifice to cite a few of its purposes. In this context, Abraham built an altar of thanksgiving for the promises the Lord had given to him. His heart was filled with awe and wonder because of the visitation and word he had just received. Being a stranger in the land, he had no idea what all was involved in that divine, faith-stretching promise.

So it is with us: When we are first come to Christ and are introduced to our spiritual “promised land,” we have no concept of the scope of that provision. All we know is that once we were lost and wandering aimlessly through life, but now we have purpose and a somewhat unclear sense of destiny. We are excited about the possibilities of having met the Lord, so we set up our “altar” of worship and dedication to our new-found Savior. But there is oh so much more land to explore, experience, and conquer.

Reclaiming Your Destiny Seminar Report

July 28th, 2009

“Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies”
(Psalm 103:1-4).

Surely the blessing and benefits of the Lord are new every morning! He not only forgives our sins, He also heals our diseases and redeems our life from the destruction of the past. Our God is a good God who continually makes His benefits available for us. We need to believe that and appropriate His provisions for all of our needs every day.

The Lord extended His blessings and benefits during our “Reclaiming Your Destiny” seminar last weekend. We had testimonies throughout the seminar of people receiving significant spiritual freedom, and there were some physical healings as well! The responses and comments we received regarding the impact of the teaching was very encouraging and confirmed that we are on the right track in launching local seminars. If you live in the Lower Mainland and were unable to join us this time, we are already planning a follow-up series for October. Our other upcoming events can be found on our website, and in our email newsletters in the weeks ahead.

We are looking forward to having our son and his family with us from Alaska for two weeks. It has been a couple years since we have been together, so we are looking forward to doing the “grandpa and grandma” things with the girls - they have four daughters. I’m sure we won’t spoil them though! The older we get, the more important it is to connect with our families.

We invite you to pray with us as we continue to seek the direction of the Lord for our lives and ministry. We have several things stirring in our hearts, but we want the clear directives of the Lord for where we are to focus our energies. Now that we are not as involved locally as we have been for the past few years, we are able to accept other ministry engagements.

Count your blessings and do not forget any of the Lord’s benefits!

In His service,
Eli and Marti Miller

Eli

Redeem the time

June 18th, 2009

“Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” (Eph.5:16)

Life consists of a series of decisions. Some are life-altering decisions while others are less significant. But whether those decisions relate to natural or spiritual dimensions, they all help form the quality of life and environment we enjoy.

One significant area where proper decisions need to be made is how we spend our time. Everyone has time in equal amounts. Although some people live more years than others, each of us has 24 hours a day, and we need to be responsible stewards of those hours. Today’s verse admonishes us to redeem the time because the days are evil. Scripture also says there is nothing new under the sun, and though unlikely, the present time certainly seems to be more evil than past generations.

The Lord uses time to examine our love for him, as well as our obedience to his word. This test of time is perhaps the most challenging of all exercises he puts us through. It is also a test in which many of his people compromise their faith and fall back into carnality and a self-serving life.

Use your time wisely today.

Blessings,

Eli
